I like to see octopus in the wild, but it’s hard to get photographs as they are fairly elusive and lurk in dark crevices, moving very fast in a cloud of ink, when disturbed.
I quite like eating them too, Greek style, marinated and charcoal grilled or sauted in red wine with coriander… But one spring day in Oman I stumbled across this…..
Wow!

🙂 There were more of them, but I am travelling and don’t have all the photos with me.. it must have been mass-egg-laying-day as I came across quite a few!

I don’t think I’ve ever encountered an octopus on eggs. But I did encounter this one…

That it was. In fact, the story was one of the first posts I published when I started blogging, even though it happened about 25 years ago.

Sorry, no octopus eating by me but I would love to take a snap of them.

How pretty! The color and textures are exquisite. Is this how you found it or did you add the shells? I love the texture of the sand in contrast to the opalescence of the eggs. It is a visual feast!

Hi, thanks for commenting, the photo is exactly how I found the octopus. It had laid eggs in the shell and disappeared when the tide started to come in. There were about 10 more in various rock pools in the same area, but sadly I can’t find the rest of the photos…

That makes the imagery all the more special. I hope you do find the rest of them.
