Palawan, Philippines, May 2016.
Jeepneys are the local bus equivalent between cities, towns, villages and settlements. Colorful, aerated (no windows) and a beast of burden for supplies needed. At times with impossible loads…
For those living in a Western world where health and safety are a priority, it seems inconceivable that such potentially dangerous loads head off out onto the road. But, that’s just the way it is, Against the Odds…
Brilliant pictures – is a wonder they can move at all under such loads! I can here H&S Officers across the UK fainting…. 🙂

I don’t think i have pictures to share because I clicked it in 2007-08 and somehow the entire set of pictures have disappeared. It was my first digital camera 🙂

I miss the way we traveled back home. It was such an expedition and more memorable than the way we travel in the western world.

OMG!! I’m always gobsmacked when I see photos like this – especially the 2nd one where you’re just waiting for the whole thing to collapse!

Hi Samuel, yes, a little ride in a similar vehicle in Thailand. Luckily your view is limited!

Quite a shift from the western culture, one person commuting in an empty car method.

Hi Dave, yes, makes sense for village transport, the Jeepney seems to be the beast of all loads!

Interesting how I would have no qualms at all about getting on a dangerously overloaded bus in Nepal or India, but wouldn’t dream of doing so in the west!

We have a list of things that you are not allowed to do on a bus, I can’t imagine they have even thought of the word ‘list’.
